    1. My favorite go to side dish, yummy and easy

      1. Very good, but! I would leave the salt out. Bacon, garlic salt, soy sauce is pretty salty right there. Maybe even substitute garlic for garlic salt. Quick easy and good though

  2. I would like to know how the brown sugar and soy sauce works together. Im afraid of ruining that much food if it’s sweet.

    1. I know it sounds like a crazy combo!!! But trust me, it’s amazing!!

    2. The salty concentration of the soy sauce off sets the sweetness of the brown sugar.

    3. It’s a wonderful recipe. Big hit with everyone. I make a double batch, sticking to the exact recipe but doubled, and after baking dump it into a big crock pot to keep it hot for big office luncheon. So good!

    4. The only way this is gluten free is if you use gluten free Soy Sauce. Soy Sauce in itself is NOT gluten free. Having said that, this recipe sounds delicious

      1. We use Tamari. It is a gluten free soy sauce

      2. I used Liquid Aminos from Bragg. It’s gluten free. 😀

    5. this is so yummy. this year were doing them for thanks giving instead of the old ones with cream of mushrooms

  3. Do you think this could be just as good in the crockpot?

    Reply

    1. That’s what I was thinking! It would be much easier to take a crockpot to my parents house and that way it would stay warm too. I’m going to try it.

I made these green beans this afternoon to take to my brother’s house for Thanksgiving dinner tonight. I just covered the glass casserole dish with Glad Press n’ Seal to transport and just before it was time to eat, popped it into the microwave for 5 minutes to reheat. I was also a little concerned about the combination of soy sauce and brown sugar but they end up with a wonderful smokey flavor. Let me tell you, everyone loved them and could not stop raving about them! This recipe is a definite keeper.

    1. I still didn’t see a reply as to weather they could be made in a crockpot or not. I have to many things going in the oven
and don’t know when I would be able to put them in it. Please reply and let me know on this. Would you put it on high and for how long? Thanks for the recipe it looks so good and want to try it for Christmas.

      1. Sharon ,I have not made this in the crockpot, but since you are just warming it to blend the flavors, I would suggest cooking on LOW for 3-4 hours. Let us know if you give it a try!

        1. ok thanks I will let you know!

      2. Bake it first then put it in crock pot. I have done this several times and it works great! Much easier for family style dinners and the beans stay warm!

  5. I did this recipe in the crockpot yesterday. The casserole was good, but the bacon was lacking in flavor and went from crispy to soggy. I think the next time I make this recipe, I’ll just warm it in the over instead of the crockpot. Hope this helps! 🙂

    2. Sherrie have you tried it with Broccoli, if so how was it?

      Reply

      1. Broccoli is so overdone these days. Use just the beans. Please.

  8. If I need to double the batch for a large gathering, do you recommend that I bake it longer?

    Reply

    1. Maybe just a few extra minutes. Just watch them at the original cooking time and adjust from there.

  9. Can you use fresh green beans? If so how many pounds?

      Chassidy,

I use about 5 pounds of fresh green beans and it turns out perfect. I boil them in really salty water for 20 min to soften them up before baking

  10. yum! I’ve had this recipe pinned forever and I finally made it tonight. It as so good! A little sweet, a little salty, little smoky. I added a splash of Worcestershire sauce and did not add the salt called for in the recipe. Adding to my recipe box!
