Nutella French Toast Sticks (1)

I’m a Nutella fan by nature, it is one of those spreads that I could and would put in or on anything. Which makes these Nutella French Toast Sticks one of my absolute favorite breakfasts.

Plus, they are super easy to throw together with little ingredients and time. In the mornings, we don’t always want to spend all the time in the world, and these are perfect for whipping up.

My daughter absolutely loves these, they are perfect for little hands and also make a great snack, lunch, or dessert as well. They are very multipurpose, and we make sure we do so with them.

If you are a fan of sweet breakfasts like we are (we actually are impartial to sweet or savory), then these Nutella French Toast Sticks are right up your alley, you will not be disappointed.

Some of my other favorite sweet breakfast recipes we have on our site include: Cinnamon Roll Buns, Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Muffins and Cherry Danishes.

WHAT OTHER DIPPING SAUCES CAN I USE?

If you do not want to do Nutella on Nutella like we do (love the extra chocolate/hazelnut flavor), you can also dip these in maple syrup, strawberry syrup, hot fudge, honey, or chocolate sauce.

DO I HAVE TO USE DAY-OLD BREAD?

When the term day-old bread is used, it means that the bread has dried out some or is more stale than fresh bread, and no, you do not have to use it.

When it comes to the bread for this recipe, you just really want to use a bread that will hold up to the liquid and stuffing, so something thicker like Texas toast, challah, country white, or brioche.

CAN I USE OTHER SPICES INSTEAD OF THE CINNAMON?

Absolutely, if you are not a cinnamon fan, we like to use ground nutmeg or pumpkin pie spice for a twist of flavor. You can really use what you’d like and would think complements the Nutella on this recipe.

HOW TO STORE:

These can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3 days. They can also be frozen, we like to flash-freeze them before storing.

To flash freeze, place the sticks on a lined sheet pan and place them in the freezer for about 1-2 hours until frozen, then place them in a freezer container where they will keep for 3 months.

Defrost in the refrigerator overnight, and you can reheat in the microwave, back in the pan on the stove, or in the oven until just heated through.

TIPS AND TRICKS:

  • You can use other breads for this recipe, see above.
  • Dip in some maple syrup, strawberry syrup, hot fudge, or honey for a twist.
  • These can be frozen, see above on how to do that.
  • If you dislike cinnamon, you can mix in nutmeg or pumpkin pie spice instead.
  • Easily double this recipe to have more or to save for later use.
