Byron Haskin (22 April 1899 – 16 April 1984; age 84) was a director, writer, and producer who became the very first associate producer for Star Trek. In early October 1964, Gene Roddenberry wanted Robert H. Justman to become the associate producer on "The Cage", the first pilot episode of Roddenberry's new series.
